HISTORICAL OVERVIEW
Barite was first recorded in 1800 by D.L.G. Karsten and named from the Greek word barys meaning “heavy,” due to its unusually high specific gravity. It is one of the most important ores of barium and has been used historically in pigments, dyes, and even skincare. In metaphysical traditions, Barite is considered a stone of insight, clarity, and spiritual development. Its rose‑like formations, often called “Desert Roses,” symbolize beauty and resilience formed under harsh conditions.
