HISTORICAL OVERVIEW
Lapis Lazuli has been treasured since antiquity, mined in Afghanistan for over 6,000 years. It was used by the ancient Egyptians for amulets, scarabs, and burial ornaments, including in the mask of Tutankhamun. In Mesopotamia, it was considered a stone of royalty and divine favor. During the Renaissance, powdered Lapis was ground into ultramarine pigment, one of the most expensive and sought-after colors for painting. In metaphysical traditions, Lapis Lazuli is regarded as a stone of wisdom, truth, and spiritual enlightenment, encouraging self-expression and inner vision.
