HISTORICAL OVERVIEW
Marcasite is a polymorph of pyrite, sharing the same chemical composition (FeS₂) but with a different crystal structure. It has been used since antiquity for decorative purposes, especially in jewelry during the Victorian and Art Nouveau eras, where its metallic sparkle was highly fashionable. Unlike pyrite, Marcasite is more brittle and prone to tarnish, making it less durable but still valued for its unique aesthetic. In metaphysical traditions, Marcasite is considered a stone of clarity, protection, and spiritual awakening, often associated with reflection and transformation.
