HISTORICAL OVERVIEW
Uvarovite was discovered in Russia in the 19th century and named after Count Sergey Uvarov, a Russian statesman. It is the only garnet that is consistently green, due to chromium content. Unlike other garnets, Uvarovite typically forms as drusy clusters rather than large crystals, making it rare in gem form.
