Zoisite was first discovered in Austria in 1805 and named after Sigmund Zois, a Slovenian scientist and mineral collector. It is a calcium aluminum silicate mineral that occurs in metamorphic rocks. Zoisite’s varieties include Tanzanite (blue‑violet), Thulite (pink), and Ruby in Zoisite (green with red inclusions).
