BLUE MOONSTONE
Blue Moonstone is considered the traditional forms of moonstone and have long been valued for their soft sheen and optical effect known as adularescence. Historically, high-quality material displaying a strong blue sheen was especially prized and widely used in jewellery and ornamental objects.
Moonstone gained renewed popularity during the Art Nouveau period (late 19th to early 20th centuries), when designers favoured natural gemstones with soft light effects and organic forms. Much of the finest historical material originated from Sri Lanka, which remains an important source today.
