LABRADORITE

Labradorite was first identified in Labrador, Canada, in the late 18th century and named after its locality. It became widely recognized for its distinctive optical effect, known as labradorescence, which produces flashes of blue, green, and gold across the stone’s surface.

A highly colourful variety known as Spectrolite was discovered in Finland in the 20th century and is valued for its vivid multicoloured flashes.

Labradorite has since become popular in jewellery, carvings, and decorative objects due to its striking appearance and durability. It is commonly associated with themes of change, adaptability, and reflection, and is often used during periods of transition or personal development.
